Overview:

Compensation and Benefits Manager shall work closely with the Human Resources Department and monitor salary structures, balance staffing needs with cost controls, and help ensure that policies, procedures, and programs are in alignment with the organization’s overall strategic objectives and HR vision.

Compensation and benefits manager shall consult with internal business partners, such as department heads and management, to assess benefits, compensation, and compliance needs. They also educate, mentor, and train human resources staff on processes and professional practices within these areas. It’s also critical that they understand the evolving employee benefits regulations, and the shifting needs of an organization’s workforce.

Compensation and benefits manager may also be required to research and make recommendations on insurance plans. Additional duties may include evaluating competitor compensation and benefits packages, creating policies and procedures, monitoring the payroll interface to ensure compliance and data integrity. This means working closely with management, providing feedback on related HR functions and processes. They are typically responsible for accurate data collection and analysis and maintaining accurate employee records.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluating and modifying existing compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Developing and implementing new compensation and benefits programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Managing subordinates, HR employees, and daily operations related to compensation and benefits activities.
  • Overseeing budgets, reports, and presentations
  • Conduct salary and labor market research to define benchmarks
  • Apply effective communication strategies
  • Keep abreast with current trends and best practice in the field
  • Create a consistent, fair, equitable and competitive total compensation and benefits package that fits and is aligned to our company’s strategy and business goals
  • Develop a consistent compensation philosophy in line with work culture, company mission and vision, and organizational objectives
  • Ensure that compensation practices are in compliance with current laws and legislation (pay equity, human rights, etc)
  • Use various methods and techniques and make data-based decisions on direct financial, indirect financial and non-financial compensations
  • Assess employees' needs by conducting organizational psychology surveys to find out what motivates and engages employees.

  • Participate in salary and labor market surveys to determine prevailing pay rates and benefits
  • Differentiate pay systems to invest in the segments of workforce that contribute the most value
  • Deploy effective communication strategies and success metrics
  • Conduct ongoing research into emerging trends, issues, and best practices
  • Designing fair and attractive bonus programs
  • Evaluating how effective the benefit packages are in terms of employee satisfaction
  • Keep track of prevailing pay rates and make sure we offer competitive compensation plans
  • Provide support to offer management as required.
  • Facilitates accurate and timely delivery of employer contributions and employee payroll deductions to carriers, plan administrators, or other appropriate service providers.
  • Collaborate with Talent Acquisition and hiring managers on salary offer/compensation package for new employees
  • Research on economic predictors such as inflation rate, industry historical salary increases and projected merit budget to aid management in plan/update reviews
  • Direct preparation and distribution of written and verbal information to inform employees of compensation and benefits programs and policies
  • Manage the third-party service providers (HMO representatives, consultants, etc.) to ensure timely and efficient delivery of services to employees
  • Monitor and ensure accurate payment to all employees on an approved leave of absence
  • Monitor expenditures vis a vis approved budget

Requirements

  • Previous working experience as a Compensation and Benefits Manager, or Human Resources Manager for at least 2years
  • Prior experience in HR people operations and knowledge of best practices
  • Good understanding of total rewards strategies
  • Familiarity with current employment rules and regulations
  • Hands on experience with HR software (HRIS) -Hands on experience with quantitative and qualitative research
  • Experienced in policy making and projects
  • Experienced in advocating Mental Health Programs
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • BS in Human Resources, Business Administration or similar relevant field
